On The Line chatted with Florencia Labat after her first round upset win over Patty Schnyder.

Florencia Labat Q: You'd been struggling in singles until two weeks ago in Istanbul...

  A: Yes.

Q: ...and you reached the semis there. Did that give you some confidence for this week?

A: Yes, because I hadn't been playing good for the last two months. All the clay court tournaments I lost first round -- except one tournament -- everywhere. Also on grass, I did not play good at all. After Wimbledon I took a break and went to practice for three weeks. Istanbul was the best part. It gave me the confidence that I lost, you know, at the other tournaments.

Q: You reached the quarterfinals here two years ago and you've had three good wins so far here. Is there something about Montreal that brings out your best tennis?

A: Maybe, maybe. I like it here very much. I remember that, I played very good two years ago here. I don't know why, but I play good here. I feel very good; I like the tournament, the city. Maybe that's why I play good here.

Q: Would you say this was your biggest win of the season so far?

A: Yes, so far. I think it's the first time that I beat a Top 10.
