Top 8 Contest Entries

On The Line's Top 8 Contest lets you predict which players
will make up the ATP and WTA Tours' top 8 at the end of the year 1999. The closer
your list was to the actual list, the fewer points you get. The contestant
with the fewest points wins the contest.
The score will be determined as follows:

Results: The Winners are Known!
Men's winner is Daisy Aye, with 20 points. That's an average of only 2.5 ranking spots per player - it's also more than 50% of the score you would get if you entered all blank names. (That score would be 36. Impressively, our editor Peter van Mierlo managed to amass 40 points, worse than if he had just kept his mouth shut.). Note: Stacy Chance had a lower score than Daisy, but her entry was received after the contest deadline.
Women's winner is Chris Gerby, with 10 points.
Overall winner is also Chris Gerby, with 33 points.
Another note: someone "named" R.Z. tied both Daisy for the men's contest, and Chris for the overall contest, but was disqualified because of our strict "only people with a name" rule.
We would like to point out that the fact that both winners are editors of OnTheLine has had no influence on the result of this contest.
