Washout
by Christopher Gerby
The highlight on Day Two: Dmitry Tursunov lobbing a ball to yours truly when he became one of the last
players to abandon a rain-soaked morning practice session. The lowlights: everything else. Nary a
match was completed on Tuesday as a steady drizzle and intermittent showers turned the National Tennis
Center into a big, soggy killjoy. Even the condensed Jimmy Connors-Patrick McEnroe replay from 1991
on the jumbotron inexplicably cut out before match point!
