Men's draw

J Stewart adds another point to his lead and is firmly in command!

The key match today was Davydenko's five-set comeback win over Hrbaty. J called that one right while Bill Walsh lost a point with Hrbaty, sending him a point further behind to join Andy Smith and Frederick Warburg three points behing J.

Can J be stopped? It will take some doing now!

Tomorrow's quarterfinals

Fabrice Santoro FRA vs. David Nalbandian ARG (4):
Persistence sometimes pays off. The 33-year-old "Magicien" has finally reached a major quarterfinal after 17 years of trying. Men's draw leader J Stewart was one of only 3 to pick Santoro to reach the last eight. Nalbandian entered the tournament with a tender tummy but now says he feels 100%.
Previous head-to-head: Santoro leads 2-1, most recently a three-setter in Rome last year. This is their first tilt on outdoor hard.

Ivan Ljubicic CRO (7) vs. Marcos Baghdatis CYP:
Baghdatis must try to follow up his big upset of Roddick by playing one of the tour's in-form players. Ljubicic, one of the world's best indoors, wouldn't mind some rain or heat so they close the roof.
Previous head-to-head: Baghdatis won their only prior meeting, right here in Melbourne last year, in four sets.

Women's draw

Gavin Hotchin now stands alone on top! Yesterday's co-leader Bill Walsh lost a point with Myskina and now joins the second place group.

Tomorrow's quarterfinals

Lindsay Davenport USA (1) vs. Justine Henin-Hardenne BEL (8):
Most of us thought the winner of this showdown would reach the final, and More than half of us figured Henin-Hardenne would be the winner. Davenport says she is concerned about an ankle injury she suffered in her win over Kuznetsova.
Previous head-to-head:: A bizarre one! Lindsay won the first 5, but Justine the last 4.

Maria Sharapova RUS (4) vs. Nadia Petrova RUS (6):
Two of the taller members of the Russian brigade vie for a spot in the last four. Only three contestants thought that Nadya would prevent Maria from making a repeat visit to the AO semis.
Previous head-to-head:: Sharapova leads 3-1, including twice at majors last year (Wimby and USO). Petrova won their most recent meeting at the Tour Championships last November.
