Men's draw

J Stewart slips one point back because of Ljubicic's loss to our two-time Heartbreaker of the Day:

Marcos Baghdatis

Frederick Warburg is alone in second place now!

Tomorrow's semifinal

David Nalbandian ARG (4) vs. Marcos Baghdatis CYP:
Baghdatis, unquestionably the revelation of the tournament, delighted his Greek chorus of "sweaty dudes" by adding the fancied Ljubicic to his list of victims. Nalbandian has looked better with each outing and became our favourite to reach the final when Baghdatis took out Roddick.
Previous head-to-head: Tied 1-1. Baghdatis won their most recent battle (2005 Basel).

Women's draw

There was no change to the top 5 after today's quarterfinals. So as we head to the semis let's take a look at who still has a chance to win this division. Shall we?

Women's draw championship scenarios

Because of the diversity of our picks in the semis and finals, there are still 4 contenders with a chance to topple Gavin: Babak G and Anthony E (in a tie), Memo and Larry Y!

  • If Mauresmo beats Henin in the final, or if there is a Sharapova-Mauresmo final regardless of the result:
    Gavin H wins outright.
  • If Henin beats Clijsters in the final:
Babak H, Anthony E and Bill W finish tied for first. Babak G and Anthony E finish tied for first after the tie-break.
  • If Clijsters beats Henin in the final:
    Memo wins outright.
  • If Henin beats Mauresmo in the final:
Babak H, Anthony E, Gavin H and Bill W finish tied for first. Babak G and Anthony E finish tied for first after the tie-break.
  • If Clijsters beats Sharapova in the final:
    Larry Y wins outright.
  • If Sharapova beats Clijsters in year. the final:
Larry Y and Gavin H finish tied for first. Larry wins the tie-break.

Good luck to all!

Tomorrow's semifinals

Justine Henin-Hardenne BEL (8) vs. Maria Sharapova RUS (4):
20 of the 24 contestants who forecast this semifinal matchup leaned toward the Belgian. Neither was particularly sharp in the quarterfinals. But they won!
Previous head-to-head:: Justine won 2 of their 3 matches, all of which came last year. Maria won their only hard court meeting (Miami), and Justine's wins were on clay.

Amélie Mauresmo FRA (3) vs. Kim Clijsters BEL (2):
About half of us thought the seedings would hold up here. A significant majority picked Clisters to triumph (34 to 10). Clijsters was made to work hard by Hingis and will have a quick turnaround.
Previous head-to-head:: Clijsters leads 8-3. Mauresmo won their last encounter (2005 Tour Championships).
