Men's draw

J Stewart is our first champion of the fortnight! The Contest Decision Desk has determined that whatever happens the rest of the way, J will retain his two-point lead. A magnificent performance!

We'll find out how we did it in tomorrow's update when we examine J's Keys to Success.

Congratulations J!

Women's draw

As we gird ourselves for the women's final, recall that Gavin Hotchin must rely on Mauresmo winning the title in order to keep his lead. Should Henin-Hardenne prevail, Babak Hejazi and Anthony Ellis will have to saw the crown in two.

Women's draw championship scenarios

  • If Henin beats Mauresmo in the final:
Babak H, Anthony E, Gavin H and Bill W finish tied for first. Babak H and Anthony E finish tied for first after the tie-break.
  • If Mauresmo beats Henin in the final:
    Gavin H wins outright.

We'll explain the tie-break tomorrow if we have to. Good luck to all!

Women's final

Justine Henin-Hardenne BEL (8) vs. Amélie Mauresmo FRA (3):
Each woman has been to the Melbourne final once before. Mauresmo was runner-up to Hingis seven long years ago. Who would have guessed it would take this long for her to again contest a major final? Henin-Hardenne was the AO champion the last time she played the event, two years ago. Justine was our tournament favourite, while Amélie garnered just 5 championship votes. Congratulations to the 8 contestants who picked a Henin-Mauresmo final. They favour the Belgian by a 5-3 margin.

Previous head-to-head:: Henin-Hardenne leads 4-3, including three of the last four. Their only encounter on Rebound Ace went Justine's way, in the 2004 Sydney final.
